Jenni will be going on a Girlguiding service project to Kenya in August 2017. She will be volunteering at a school in Nakuru for 10 days. She needs to raise £1900 for the trip.

The project

I will be one of a group of approx. 30 Girlguiding leaders who will be travelling to Nakuru in Kenya with African Adventures, a company which specialises in volunteer travel organisation. They work with 23 community projects in developing areas of Ghana, Kenya and Zanzibar, providing them with volunteers and resources to help them grow through their pioneering Community Development Pledge and their registered charity, the African Adventures Foundation.

We will be volunteering in one or more roles, delivering teaching assistance, getting involved with construction and renovation work, building new classrooms and school facilities and helping to run sports coaching sessions - all of which will make a difference to the lives of children from extremely deprived backgrounds. Projects in Kenya provide not just education but also a safety net for children unable to afford government schools by offering education, food and clean water.

As mentioned above, I have to raise £1900 to get to Kenya. I will be fundraising in a variety of ways.

I am running a quiz night on Friday 24th February 2017, 7pm for 7.30pm start, at Little Paxton Village Hall. Tickets cost £5 each and teams are a max. of 6 people. There will be prizes, a raffle and a bar.

Please email for more information or to buy tickets.

There is a challenge badge available. Badges are £1 each plus postage. The challenge pack is optional, so you can just buy the badge for yourself if you'd like. The badge design is the same as the logo above, but square with a red border. The challenge pack is available to download. Please visit the Contact Us page to arrange to purchase badges.

I have had to postpone my sponsored walk for a short while as I'm having an operation on 16th September. Once I recover from that, I will set a new date for my walk (details below).

My first big fundraiser will be a sponsored walk. I live about 20 miles away from Little Paxton where I run Brownies, and I am planning to walk from home to Brownies for the first meeting of the Autumn term. Those of you who know me will know that I'm not the fittest person so this will be a real challenge for me!

If you would like to sponsor me for this, you can do so via, or alternatively, talk to me for other ways. I am very grateful for any sponsorship, thank you.

I am also using this walk towards my Diamond Duke of Edinburgh Challenge.
