About Brownies

This page tells you all you need to know about Brownies.

Brownies is for girls aged between 7 and 10, who meet with the rest of their pack most weeks. Each Brownie Pack is organised into sixes. The sixes are either named after mythical creatures such as Pixies, Elves and Imps, or after woodland creatures such as Hedgehogs, Squirrels and Badgers.

Brownies are supervised by a team of volunteers consisting of Leaders, Helpers and Young Leaders.

Brownies help to plan the activities they do and the games they play. Brownies have lots of fun whilst carrying out their Promise and Law. Brownies take part in exciting events such as Brownie Adventure Days and Brownie Holidays, they complete interest badges and learn about themselves, the community and the world.

When a space becomes available for a Brownie to join a pack, she is sent a Brownie invitation card. At her first meeting she receives a Becoming a Brownie book. After a few weeks a Brownie has her promise celebration, and receives her Promise Badge, Promise Certificate, Brownie Adventures Book, Brownie Badge Book and Brownie Adventures Bag.

All Brownies have their Promise Celebration a few weeks after joining Brownies. The Brownie helps to plan her own celebration along with her leaders, her six and her Brownie friends. When a Brownie makes her Promise, she must try to keep it always.

The Brownie Promise is:
I promise that I will do my best:
To be true to myself and develop my beliefs,
To serve the Queen and my community,
To help other people,
And to keep the Brownie Guide Law

The Brownie Law is:
A Brownie Guide thinks of others before herself and does a good turn every day.

Brownies also: Lend a hand
